This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are the light of our day. Every day these students attend virtual classes, despite their exposure to violence, trauma, gang activity, drugs, and poverty. They want to be taught. They want to learn. They want to be exposed to the world that exists beyond our city limits. They not only need and want to learn academics, but also life and social skills. They need to be able to navigate this new world and we need to be their guide.
My Project
We are trying our best to engage students in this ever-changing virtual learning setting. These students are trying so hard to stay engaged in their studies, sometimes while trying to help siblings at the same time. Students have expressed how challenging it is to stay focused on the "same old" kinds of lessons. An iPad will help me to create videos, plan new types of engaging lessons, and bring biology to life for our students. Then when we get back in the building, students will be able to use the iPad for in-person learning activities.
