This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is my third year as a speech language pathologist, but my first year in the elementary school. My students love working on their speech and language goals through reading, but I don't have many books geared towards younger students. They are quickly going through the books I do have and I want to be able to show them new and exciting stories.
One of the best ways to target student language goals is through literacy!
I will use the books along with the other materials (lamination sheets and Velcro) to create literacy units that can be used to target a wide variety of speech and language goals. The books I have selected will work great for my students working on expanding utterances, learning new vocabulary, following directions, story retell, and more! I know my students would be so excited to have new books to read and new activities to work on.
