Increased Tech for Digital Learners

My students need increased technology for our tech savvy class of digital learners.

My Students

I teach in a Title I school where students come from various backgrounds. Many come from homes that have limited resources and English is limited or not present at all. Many students attend after-school until the end of the day, as their parents work very late.

I teach an inclusion fourth-grade class where some students have special needs, some are English Language Learners, and some are General Education students.

We all have a common goal of access, perseverance, and tolerance of and for all.

My Project

My class has been very lucky to have to have slowly acquired iPads for almost each student to have their own device. Having many devices has been beneficial for many reasons. In my class, digital learning is embraced. This year, I have almost enough iPads for each student to use their own device. I do anticipate new arrivals, so having one more iPad and an iPad Pro that can be used in small groups would be wonderful for our class.

My students love when I incorporate digital learning into parts of the school day.

There are any times when working on an iPad at the same time is a great strategy. During independent work time, disturbances can occur when students have to wait to access their own information. It is so much easier for students when they can turn on their iPad and see the information that they last worked on last.

My students love using iPad Airs in their math, writing and reading. They use a variety of apps and have loved using various online programs to learn about financial literacy. They are so engaged and enthusiastic and not having to wait for a turn to use an iPad would make all the difference in my class.
