Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students in special education, in a pullout setting, who are in elementary school, love math and science and want help with understanding. Several of my students are so interested in Legos and math concepts and want more manipulatives to engage with this thinking. I serve students who struggle with math and students who are on the autism spectrum who love learning and using math manipulatives. I want to get more Legos and math 10s frames to support direct instruction and earned Lego STEM breaks!
My students with special needs get specially designed instruction in a pull-out learning support classroom and they love to engage in math and STEAM activities.
These tools will help them learn and engage in positive math thinking!
Science and math instruction are crucial to their futures, to their present abilities and to their life-skills. They are working diligently and with passion on their math work and often earn incentives to get free time with math games and positive breaks. This ties my behavioral class strategies together with practical instruction as earned breaks reinforce math, engineering, science, and fun (all in one time!).
