My students need these 35 high-interest books at their reading levels. These books will tap into reading interests, while not overwhelming them.

My Students
My biggest goals for students in my classroom are that they develop a love for reading and become better readers. When I inherited my classroom library, there were great books, okay books, and terrible books. I want to stash the shelves with books that students will not want to put down.
My students are the reason I come to work everyday.
They overcome tremendous disadvantages to make it in and always continue to surprise me. Working in a special education classroom has taught me that nothing is impossible. Even since September, I have seen exponential growth. My school is a very warm and welcoming environment. The staff really care about the progress of each and every scholar. We make it a point to make sure every scholar achieves success.
My Project
The students will use these books during silent reading time. In this time we work on Common Core standards that address deep thinking while reading. They will also be allowed to take the books home to read. These books will be huge for many of my students who do not have the means to purchase books of their own. How great it will be for them to have current, high-interest books such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Astro Boy, and Baby-Sitters Club available in their own classroom!
I know that the students will enjoy these books and boost reading interest.
I know this because I asked all of my students what books they would like to see in their classroom library and these are the books! Helping fill our shelves with these books will help keep the excuse of, "There is nothing to read," down to a minimum.
