Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The Computer Tech materials requested within this proposal are rewards intended to motivate and inspire a greater percentage of our graduates to fill out a FASFA and progress. First, the materials are intended for our emerging English Speaking Language Learners, the first to graduate from high school in their family to progress onto college; Second it is to motivate "our struggling to remain in-school students" to progress to a college, a Computer Science or a trade school with confidence. This includes encouraging those who must work to support themselves through high school without parental support and need encouragement and support to become more open to academics beyond 12th grade.
Last year less than 65% felt confident in their ability to compete for a seat in college or an aggressive career track and hence did not fill out a FASFA or complete a college application.
We are aiming for 100% this year of students who will see merit in filling out FASFA, taking SAT'S, and progressing onto either a college-bound or professional post-graduation track after their 2024 High school graduation. But we also embedded some tech materials to encourage their passion for the world of Technology and perhaps progress in E-Cube's mission for Advanced Computer science and related tracks for our exiting graduates .
