My English II classroom is geared to equip students with the tools they will need as they continue their high school career and transition into college. I use a wide variety of activities in my classroom. These activities are geared toward reaching every student, regardless of learning style. This equipment will enhance what is already happening in the classroom as well as integrate more collaborative learning activities.
Students have grown up with access to computers and Smartphones, yet the technology in our classrooms is limited to projecting the same PowerPoint presentations we used 20 years ago.
The technology available with this computer and its added programs will be used to promote more collaborative learning that also helps with developing teamwork and social skills. It will allow students to actively participate and collaborate on team projects by using the classroom Chromebooks from their desks. The entire class can also actively participate and answer questions on the board without having to leave their desks. This is the type of technology they are used to carrying in their pockets and will use throughout their future. It is only natural that is should be incorporated into the classroom.
This computer will give my students another access point to create and present multimedia presentations to the class. This encourages students with different learning styles and interests to get involved in projects they might not have otherwise and fosters differentiated lessons so that each student has an opportunity to succeed using their own specific strengths. This computer will connect directly to the projector and other resources available in my class, allowing easy access to research and present projects based on the works and elements of literature we are currently studying. By expanding my current set-up, this will save time that can be used for further lessons.
