My Project

I teach a diverse group of students from a variety of backgrounds. Most come from economically disadvantaged homes and some, like many pre-teens and teens, come with a dislike of school. I have enjoyed building relationships and finding ways to make content more relevant and fun by incorporating art, projects, technology, and games into lessons.

Incorporating art into Global Studies lessons and activities helps to engage students and encourage them to connect to content in real and relevant ways.

They can use art to demonstrate their understanding on the concepts and content. We cover topics such as Ancient Cultures (Europe, Asia, Central America) up to some American History including the Industrial Revolution and the World Wars.

Having an adequate supply of materials that we can use throughout the year, and beyond, will help keep students feeling welcomed to school and giving them the tools they need to present their learning.
