Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I have requested materials that will be used primarily during ELA instruction. We no longer have desktops or keyboards for students to use. Six and seven year olds are still perfecting their fine and gross motor skills. Typing on tablets can be difficult for them. By having the laptop, I can assign each student time to practice typing on an actual "keyboard." This will allow them to practice writing and publishing.

It is so important that we diversify our lessons so that all students feel represented.

The literacy materials will be used with our author studies and make the lessons more relatable to the students. Once the author studies have been completed those books will join other books in my classroom library that embrace the cultures that are represented in my classroom.
