My Project
I teach STEM to over 750 students, including a group of students with severe disabilities. What I love most about my students is their curiosity and determination. For my students with disabilities, STEM activities are an opportunity to practice life skills, build confidence, and engage with the world in a hands-on way.
The Magna-Tiles I’m requesting will make a significant impact on their learning.
These tiles are not just tools for building, but bridges to developing fine motor skills and enhancing problem-solving abilities. The magnetic nature of Magna-Tiles provides extra support for students who may struggle with dexterity, allowing them to focus on constructing shapes and structures rather than being frustrated by the difficulty of traditional building materials.
The goal of this project is to provide my students with accessible, engaging resources that cater to their unique learning needs. Magna-Tiles will allow my students to participate in STEM activities that encourage creativity and teamwork, while also providing essential practice in motor skills, spatial reasoning, and design.
What makes my students special is their resilience. Despite the challenges they face, they approach each activity with enthusiasm and a desire to learn. Their resilience inspires me to provide an environment that celebrates their strengths and encourages growth. Magna-Tiles will not only support their academic development but also allow them to experience the joy of creation and achievement in an inclusive classroom.
