As a Unified classroom, composed of 2 classes of energetic 3-year-old Special Education students, total of 17 students, and their compassionate Unified Partners, we have witnessed firsthand how these tools have become much more than just equipment, they have become catalysts for inclusion, collaboration, and school-wide unity.\r\nImpact on our Classroom: The simple act of designing and decorating T-shirts has had an extraordinary impact on our young learners: \r\n Promoting Collaboration and Communication: Our Unified Partners have worked side-by-side with their peers, choosing colors, practicing fine motor skills while mixing dye, and selecting designs for the heat press. This has created shared goals and fostered rich, non-verbal and verbal communication between all students.\r\n Building Self-Esteem: Every student, regardless of their developmental level, contributes to the final product. Seeing their own creation, or a shirt they helped design, worn by others has given them a huge boost in confidence and a powerful sense of pride and ownership. \r\n Sensory and Motor Skill Development: The process of squeezing dye bottles, dipping fabric, and applying pressure to the press provides valuable sensory input and strengthens essential fine motor skills in an engaging, playful way. \r\nThe ripple effect of your donation has spread far beyond our classroom walls, helping to truly unify our entire school community.\r\nThe T-shirt press and tie-dye kits have given our unified classroom a meaningful way to contribute to our school's culture.","fullyFundedDate":1760342722080,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-family-shirts/9807145/","projectTitle":"Classroom “Family” Shirts","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Shuman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9686679_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723943736325","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9686679"},{"teacherId":9618010,"projectId":9026986,"letterContent":"My students love all of the indoor recess options. One of my students with limited dexterity proudly built a tall tower all by himself—he beamed and told me, \"I made it stay up!\" That moment was pure joy and a perfect example of why these materials are so impactful.\r\n\r\nWe've already used the Magna-Tiles for hands-on STEM challenges, like designing bridges and creating patterns to practice symmetry. The magnetic connections give my students the confidence to keep trying, even when their designs topple over, because rebuilding is quick and frustration-free.
