This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The motto at our school is “Supporting Student Strengths with Passion, Purpose, and Professionalism.” This project focuses on fostering students’ strengths by making sure they can access their curriculum in a fun and unique way by incorporating materials that can be adapted! Many of the Special Education students I work with come from limited resources and have behavioral, medical, and academic needs. Some of the students live in groups or foster homes, and it can be a challenge to find motivating activities that will engage them.
My students would love to be able to have inclusive materials provided by diverse fellow educators on teachers pay teachers, so they can practice their communication skills and feel represented!

My Project
I work with so many diverse students and they all access their curriculum in different ways. This project will help me learn current evidence-based practices through the Speech Retreat, so I will be able to include all students (AHDH, deaf and hard of hearing, etc). The classroom books will allow my students to see themselves in literature and will help bridge the gap between their classmates. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will allow me to find materials from diverse educators that emphasize inclusion. These materials can be adapted for my learners with the help of velcro dots and lamination sheets. Creative expression will be facilitated with inclusive and colorful astrobrights paper and skin tone markers, so all students will have options that fit them. Lastly, the cubes will help store all the wonderful materials that help all my students feel represented.
