Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project will help bring cultural literacy to my students. With these books, students will be able to explore topics of race, culture, and social emotional learning. There is strong evidence supporting the importance of cultural literacy and diverse classroom libraries in building student efficacy, connecting student background knowledge, and expanding students empathy and compassion. Particularly for students from minority groups, feeling represented by the literature in the classroom is a critical part of building a safe and healthy classroom culture.

These books will help bring cultural literacy and social emotional skills such as empathy and compassion to our resource room!
