Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach at a new school in the New Caney, Texas area, serving a diverse group of students from low-income backgrounds and those with severe disabilities and accessibility issues. My students are exceptional because, despite their challenges, they are eager to learn and explore new opportunities in the fine arts.

The items I am requesting—pink erasers, sidewalk chalk, an animation lab book, a light tracing box, mini doodle boards, mini hot glue guns, and assorted paper—will unlock the creative potential of every student, regardless of their background or abilities.

Pink erasers will allow students to carve their stamps for printmaking, fostering creativity and hands-on learning. Sidewalk chalk will enable outdoor art competitions, promoting engagement and collaboration. The animation lab book will integrate English learning and self-initiated STEM projects, enhancing their reading and critical thinking skills.

The light tracing box and mini doodle boards are particularly beneficial for my students with disabilities, providing them with accessible tools to participate fully in art activities. Mini hot glue guns will support various campus projects, encouraging teamwork and practical skills. Finally, the assorted paper will allow students to explore different mediums and techniques, broadening their artistic horizons.

This project aims to provide all my students with the resources to explore various art forms, enhance their creativity, and foster a love for learning that transcends their current circumstances. These supplies will help bridge the gap for students who may not have access to such materials at home, ensuring that every student, regardless of their situation, can create and thrive in the arts.
