My Project

I teach students with significant disabilities and my goal is to teach them functional math skills to prepare them for adulthood. These students are in high school and my goal is teach them skills that will help them to become more independent. These include cooking and money skills. Being able to cook for yourself and buy items that you need are things that we need to be an independent adult. In my classroom, this is what we are focusing on. Through these cooking materials and math games it allows my students to practice these skills while at school. These students are unique because they require the most adult support and attention to achieve these skills. In special education, some times these students get looked passed so receiving this grant would them to be seen and the ability to achieve their goals.
