I will be entering my second year of teaching, and I love every moment of it. I teach early childhood special education, and I am so lucky to teach such an amazing group of young learners.
My students are learning things such as speech/language skills, fine motor skills (grasping a pencil, cutting, writing), gross motor skills (kicking balls, walking upstairs with both legs, balancing), social-emotional skills (coping with emotions, learning how to communicate with friends) and academics skills (knowing letters, numbers, shapes) so we can become kindergarten ready!
I have a bunch of goofballs who make my day! I love my job and my students!
My Project
In early childhood special education not all of my students are potty trained so in order to celebrate and entice them to use the bathroom I reward them with a toy out of the surprise box! Well, all my students who are potty trained come to me and say "I went pee in the potty, can I get something". I understand it's not fair and doesn't make sense to them soooooo I started to reward students who complete the letter of the week writing in the art center. Instead of playing in centers if they work on the letter of the week and do a great job, they get a sticker. Once they get 5 stickers they get something out of the surprise box!!! Well, this really got my students going!!!! Needless to say my surprise box is getting empty!!!!
I would love to get my students incentives for working during "play time" and going potty.
The camera pictures are for my kindness tree!! It's another way I incentive students who are being kind and helping other students. If I see them being kind they get their picture taken with the "magic camera" and get to watch as their kind picture develops. Once the picture is created they get to put it on our kindness tree with a heart saying how they were kind!!!!
