Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Learning Spanish offers many possibilities for my students. This is what I instilled in my students. I believe the more they learn it, hear the language the better they will become when they enter college. I am a Spanish High School teacher in the public schools. I teach 5 classes in grades 9-12. My students work hard each day to learn the Spanish language. I teach 170 students with different academic levels. My students are interested in the health professions and a second language is vital in their educational life. My students are hard-working, generous, cooperative and take their education very seriously. This is the reason why I praise them constantly and reward them for their efforts on classwork, exams, and honor roll status. Our school has a 94% percent graduation rate and most of our students go on to college and enter the health field. I want all my students to be college and technology ready.
My Project
My students dedicate themselves to school each day and when they get rewarded by either a nice pen, pencil, eraser or stickers they feel good that their teacher acknowledged and praised their hard work. My goal is for students of different academic levels to be rewarded for a job well done for class work, class participation, winning a game, good exam grades, etc. These supplies (pens, pencils, grips, erasers, pencil sharpeners) will enhance their learning to aim for higher performance. I enjoy seeing my students learn Spanish and enjoy rewarding them by giving them incentives for doing well on exams, homework, class participation, good behavior, etc. However, I am not always able to provide incentives, only homework coupons or points, due to limited budget and supplies. I want to reward them with nice incentives such as goody bags filled with school supplies to show them that hard work pays off.
