Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students and I will begin this school year with a distance/remote learning model. Since my students will be learning from home, they will be presented with a variety of challenges; such as added distractions & lack of supplies. I will not be able to see my students in person and this connection is one of the most important tools I have to help them succeed. Although this is a challenging and not an ideal situation our health and safety are the utmost priority.

It is my goal to make the best out of this less than ideal situation and do everything in my power to create a learning environment for my students that is positive, engaging, and effective.

I am provided with a laptop to conduct distance learning on, however, as I learned from our digital learning experience in March-May, our students need vivid visuals, organization tools, and effective sound to help them succeed.

This project will provide my students with the proper tools to help them be successful during this terrible pandemic.

My Project

Since distance learning began my students and I have done our best to make the best out of the situation. While I do my best to make lessons exciting and engaging it is difficult to inspire students from so far away.

I am looking to put together incentives and monthly themed packets for my students to help them to get inspired to learn.

In my traditional classroom, I usually do special projects every month to help engage and develop a love of learning in my students. Traditions such as our monthly classroom store, a Stone Soup feast, Classroom Election Day, and our class "trip" Around the World; help to make the students excited to learn.

The items in this project will enable me to give my students modified versions of these activities and help to make learning fun in a virtual classroom.
