I am a teacher in Northern Vermont. I work with students with intensive special needs. In the fall I will be starting an Intensive needs program for students grades 4-8. My students are amazing individuals that want to be included with their peers. Thankfully, the school I work at is wonderful with inclusion. My students are able to participate with their general education peers when appropriate as well as receive the specialized instruction they need.
The students I work with have intensive special needs.
Many students have been identified as students on the Autism Spectrum or other neurodevelopment disabilities. The students I work with would greatly benefit from life skill instruction and experiences in the community. The students in the program take part in inclusion in the general education classroom as much as possible. Many of them require structured environments for their learning. They are all awesome in their own unique ways!
My Project
The cricut machine will allow my students to independently create in a way they never have had the opportunity to. Over half of the students in my school are considered low income, they may never have access to such amazing tools.
My students are considered non-verbal; it is difficult for them to express their wants, needs or even creative thoughts.
This tool would allow my students to independently create what they have been thinking of without using their voice at all! Please help me give this chance to my students. I would love to know what they are dreaming of! Thank you!
