In Xylophone We Stand Pt. 2

Help me give my students stands for our xylophones to improve the playing experience for the students, as well as to keep the instruments safe.

My Students

Students at my school receive music instruction every day. Music for my students is an important part of their school day.

My school is a small, rural, mountain school in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and many of my students come from low-income households and receive a free or reduced-price lunch.

Students in PK-5th grade benefit greatly from receiving music instruction every day. You will find many of them singing songs from class on the playground, at home, or while working on the family ranch. Music is important in my district for my students in all grades.

My Project

These xylophone stands will provide a better playing experience for all my students. When we play the xylophones in class or during a concert, students need to be on their knees or bottoms, which creates an unnatural playing position. By having the instruments on stands, students are able to play standing up which creates a more natural playing position and is easier to play.

Along with a better playing experience for the students, these xylophone stands will help protect the instruments from future damage.

When the instruments are moved in class or across the school for concerts, they have been dinged up and knocked against objects. By having them on rolling stands, the instruments can be rolled - not carried, allowing them to stay in better condition a lot longer.

Finally, along with a better experience for the students and instrument protection, these stands will simply look nicer than no stands and will create a positive impact in my music classroom for my mini musicians.
