Help me give my students the joy of reading through this curated list of works by POC writers who will inspire my tenth and twelfth grade students through their words, and shared experiences.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are curious, bright young individuals who are hungry for literature and non-fiction which represents their lived experiences. I have curated a collection of works by POC writers whose lives and experiences often reflect the realities my students navigate every day.
Through these works, I hope to create a more welcoming environment in my classroom by allowing autonomy in what my students read independently.
There are choices here for those who enjoy poetry, others who are looking to challenge their thinking through some non-fictional writing, and those who want to escape momentarily into a made up world.
