My Project
Learning about creating a Missing in Action (MIA) Table to honor and remember MIA personnel is deeply aligned with the NJROTC's core values, such as honor, courage, commitment, and respect. The primary value instilled in NJROTC students is honor, and learning how to create an MIA Table offers a meaningful way to demonstrate respect for the service members who have sacrificed for their country. It teaches students the importance of recognizing and remembering those who may not have returned and helps reinforce the idea that honoring others is essential to leadership and character. Also, setting up and reflecting on the MIA Table allows students to personally connect with the historical significance of honoring fallen and missing soldiers, a decisive teaching moment for character development. NJROTC emphasizes the importance of understanding the role of military personnel in protecting the country’s freedoms. The MIA Table represents those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those still missing in action. It serves as a reminder of NJROTC students' broader societal responsibilities and civic duty. That duty to honor MIA service members aligns with their growing understanding of their duty to serve and protect others, not just within the military but as members of society. It emphasizes the importance of never forgetting those who served and highlights the role of citizens in preserving the memory of heroes. Lastly, it encourages students to reflect on the sacrifices made by others, strengthens their sense of duty and national pride, and empowers them to become leaders who understand the importance of remembrance and respect. Ultimately, it serves as a decisive teaching moment, helping them grow into individuals who understand leadership and carry the responsibility of honoring those who came before them.
