My Project
Help give my students an iPad and Osmo interactive game through several various skills through interactive play. My students have been begging me to get this! We have one in our classroom and its not enough for all my students. They beg for me to choose them for the next person play and I would love to have another one in my classroom. Osmo is very effective in reading, math, and coding skills. The following are the benefits to Osmo. Osmo's open gameplay encourages my students to work together, which can help them develop social-emotional skills. Osmo apps encourage them to solve problems through hands-on activities, which can help them develop critical thinking skills. Osmo's free-form expression encourages my students to think outside the box and find unique answers. Osmo can be customized for any student by adding class vocabulary or spelling lists.
Ozobots is a new innovative technology that allows students program their own coding that represents sounds.
Students create different paths with different colors representing individual sounds like "a," "m," "s," and have students program their Ozobot to follow the sequence, saying each sound as the robot moves over the colors. Students can also blend sounds designing paths with color combinations for simple CVC words (like "cat" - red, blue, green) and have students decode the word as the Ozobot moves through the color sequence.
They can also use word families to represent different word families (e.g., "at" - blue, "an" - green) and have students build words by manipulating the color sequence. They can create paths for rhyming word pairs, like "cat" and "hat," and have students identify the rhyming pattern as the Ozobot moves.
Students can immediately see the results of their coding as the Ozobot moves along the path.
