Welcome to our campus! Where creative learning is a must! Our students not only thrive on creativity, they seek it out.... in all sorts of places! Not just in the classroom! Our campus houses almost 800 students on two levels of our beautiful school. They are bright and smart learners who excel in seeing beyond the classroom doors for inspiration! They are continuously bringing me artwork that they have created at home and in other classes to show me their skills and how proud they are of what they create! Where will their creativity take them next??
My Project
Have you heard of an art car before? A rolling piece of artwork? Mrs. Walton is on her third WCE Art Car she has created with her 5th graders! Each year, we tie in the PTA theme to the best of our ability! This year's theme is "Get in the game of learning!" and ties in the idea of every type of game you can think of!
From arcade to xbox, board games to olympic games, our kids are in it to win it!
This year's 5th graders will create a rolling masterpiece which will compete in the Houston Art Car Parade! The items we have requested are oversized games and game pieces, like scrabble pieces, checkers, connect four items, etc... that we will add to a real car in an artistic way and include artwork created by the kids along side of it! We can't wait! The parade rolls on April 8th and even though we are a bit behind because of Harvey rolling through, the ideas are already flowing!
When we are done using the items on this year's car, hopefully much of it can be salvaged to use within our school in our recess environment and various creative locations of learning!
