Kindergarten is such an exciting age group. They love to come to school every day and they love learning! This eagerness is one of the main reasons why kindergartners have the opportunity to make such amazing growth over the course of the school year. Many students come in knowing a limited number of letters and sounds, but by the end of the year, they are reading and writing.
Learning comes to life with hands-on opportunities.
I provide learning that connects students to each other, our school, our community, and our world. Alongside our academics, we spend time learning how to regulate our own emotions, how to be a friend to others, and how to work together as a community. Our class is more than just a classroom, we are a group of people preparing to become productive citizens for our future.
My Project
Learning to read is not an easy task. In kindergarten, students get the foundation of reading they will need for the rest of their lives. I am in need of strong, engaging texts that will draw readers in and allow them to learn important aspects of reading. I want to model and guide students through the process of understanding and practicing important reading skills. I am in need of these mentor texts to help students learn to understand the meaning of what a text says, to learn how to figure out the meaning of unknown words, how to deepen their understanding with questions, how to connect stories to their own lives, how to compare and contrast, and many more important skills. Not only will students be building their reading skills, but they will also be exposed to new and exciting content to spark their interests in all subjects!
I want to provide students opportunities to learn comprehension skills with engaging materials and a caring teacher guiding them along the way.
Each year a child progresses through school they will build on these foundational skills. I appreciate your help providing my students with quality materials to help give them the strong reading foundation all students deserve.
