Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at the tip of Texas, bordering Mexico, where my students speak Spanglish. They face many challenges such as dyslexia, special needs, and socioeconomic disadvantages, but that doesn't stop them from dreaming big. They are determined, hard-working children who are willing to learn no matter their circumstances.

I teach second-grade bilingual students who inspire me on a daily basis.

These students come every day excited to start class. They enjoy hands-on activities, crafts, group activities, and, especially, working with technology. They face many challenges, but they don't let these challenges take over their learning experience.

I work at a very supportive school where students come first. We are all about meeting our children's needs. Our administrators have created a safe, happy environment for everyone at our school: students, staff, teachers, and parents. I love working at the very tip of Texas where my students are very unique and wonderful.

My Project

Now that we are back to a new "normal," I am looking for ways to make students feel part of our school community. Many students are struggling to fit in back to school. I want this Cricut Maker 3 vinyl machine to create some nice uniforms for my students.

With the help of this vinyl cutting machine, my students will apply their design skills using their iPads and create a uniform to encourage each other to be part of our school community.

I want to allow them to be motivated to come to school and be able to learn through our STEM program.

They will also be encouraged to apply their financial literacy skills by creating various items for our classroom economy program. They will have to earn "money" and save it to be able to acquire the various items the other students will create.

What a fun way to learn financial literacy and motivate them to stay in school! Please help this project become a reality with your generosity.
