I am a mental health counselor working in West Baltimore. I provide intensive mental health services to children ages 5-12 in a Child's Psychiatric Day Program in need of intensive treatment for failure to thrive in the classroom and/or community. The students who come to the Partial Day Program come referred by their school or current outpatient mental health provider for a higher level of care.
The Child's Partial Hospitalization Empowerment Program emphasizes improving one's well-being.
The children that come to the program receive schooling, individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy. I assist my students' emotional, behavioral, and social challenges that compromise their ability to succeed academically.
Every day, I work to alleviate behavioral or emotional concerns.
Behaviors cited most frequently include students who: are unable to resolve interpersonal conflicts, have poor decision-making, problem-solving skills, are disobedient, disrespectful, stubborn, lack motivation, have poor self-image, make negative self-statements, have low self-confidence, avoid the difficult, and are depressed, unhappy.
The items in cart are basic school supplies that each kid should have in order to be productive. Many children in Baltimore do not have the resources needed to complete work in school.
Please help me give my kids the resources to be productive.
The paper, colors, dry erase boards and marker will be used during school time to complete schoolwork. The pencil holder and caddies will be utilized to keep the classroom organized. The timer will be used to allow students to know how much time they have left to complete their assignments. The tissue and lysol will be used to maintain a clean environment.
