My school is Title I and located in a small North Carolina town. It has a diverse population in which the majority of the students are economically disadvantaged. Almost half of my students are also learning English as their second language. My students are full of enthusiasm about learning, but often come to school without the necessary tools. As their teacher, I want to provide them with all of the resources they need in order to learn and be successful.
My Project
Have you ever gone to write something and you were not able to find a pencil? Have you ever needed to erase something, but you didn't have a good eraser? Have you ever looked for an important paper before, but you couldn't locate it? These kinds of things happen on a daily basis in my classroom.
My students often come to school without the basic necessities.
They are in need of pencils, quality erasers, crayons and pencil pouches to keep everything together in one place. My students are also in need of folders to keep important papers and assignments in so they do not get lost. My students are in need of these basic supplies in order to be successful learners.
