My Students
My students are a special, charming group of kids who teach me as much as I teach them.
All of my students are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and all of my students are amazing, dynamic learners.
Some like to learn in small groups, some learn 1-1, while others need their lessons embedded into fun, meaningful play activities. We rotate through five different language based stations a day, where IEP goals are woven into the fabric on standards based instruction.
My Project
New iPad chagers will help make sure our technology stations are fully juiced. Color ink cartridges and laminator pouches will help staff make fresh, individualized learning materials on a daily basis. Our students are hitting their goals so quickly that we cannot keep up! We are always making new materials to help kids generalize just-acquired language skills.
My students with autism struggle with abstraction.
Flashy, bright, fun and colorful materials - both tangible and technological - help motivate them to keep learning. Boring black and white materials are uninspiring. Color materials are worth keeping and reusing, so we want to preserve them in the laminator pouch.
