This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are compassionate, curious and energetic 4-5-year-old preschool students who love to learn. They ask lots of questions and enjoy researching to seek answers to their questions. I teach preschool in a diverse inner-city elementary school.
My students are curious and love to explore.
My students love being outside, building with legos and coding with robots and exploring with magnets. They really enjoy learning and they love school. My students are learning a second language which includes either French, Spanish, Japanese or Chinese.
My Project
My students need underwear, socks, uniform shirts, pants and sweaters in case of emergencies. There have been several occasions where students have accidents at school and do not have an extra change of clothes to change into. I have also had parents state that their child could not come to school because they did not have a clean uniform to wear. These extra uniforms will allow all students to come to school, even when their parents do not have the money for additional uniforms or when they are unable to wash their child's uniforms in a timely fashion.
Last year alone, I called a parent to see why her child was out and she stated it was because her daughter did not have a clean uniform, I told the mom to bring her to school and I had everything that she needed, clean underwear, socks and a complete uniform.
This grant will assist with replenishing the underwear, socks and uniforms I received several years ago from a grant.
