it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The great thing about Pickleball is that it is accessible for everyone. People that are not normally into sports or athletics are able to pick up a paddle and play with no training or practice. The rules are simple, and with the rapid growth of the sport in the United States, Pickleball is becoming a more common activity that anyone can get involved in.
By funding this project, you are giving my students the basic equipment to start a new Pickleball team that will open opportunities for students that are not able to participate in the more high-impact athletics.
Not every student wants to play football, basketball, soccer, or wrestle. This is a great way for some students to participate in a sport, but with a much lower threshold for entry. We are requesting pickleball sets and court marker sets to start a pickleball club/team for our school.
If this club/team is successful is drawing student interest, the possibility of having a pickleball league throughout the OKCPS district grows. Our students want to be pioneers within the district and help to start a new league.
