This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I work at an amazing school that is completely dedicated to student success. Our scholars will benefit greatly from the opportunity to read, write, and learn in an environment that supports their developmental needs. I currently work with students who are strengthening their reading skills through interventions that are research-based. I strive to ensure that they are given every equitable opportunity to reach their fullest potential, so they may someday make this world a better place.

The courses listed below will help me gain the necessary knowledge to assist our scholars and support their developmental needs.

The IMSE Impact Morphology Plus 30-hour course is a hands-on, interactive, and personalized class that provides a complete understanding of morphology, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension and how to apply it in the classroom. The Morphology class cost is $1,500.

The Fidelity Course is $375. This course will support me with implementing IMSE Comprehensive/ Comprehensive OG Plus strategies with fidelity. Additionally, this course will provide more in-depth information about dyslexia.

The IMSE Orton-Gillingham certification is $2,350. The certification is a 6-12 month training that will advance my understanding of the specific procedures of the OG Approach and the underlying principles in teaching reading, spelling, and vocabulary to students based on the Science of Reading. The time spent learning how to read can have a negative or positive impact on a child’s development. As a teacher, aiding the growth of struggling readers or dyslexic learners is a wonderful opportunity. Nonetheless, it can be a challenging task, and it’s important to have the necessary training to support our scholars.
