My Project
The IMSE Morphology Plus 30-hour course is a hands-on, interactive class that provides a complete understanding of morphology, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension and how to apply it in the classroom.
After participating in this accredited Structured Literacy course, I will have the training and resources necessary to provide research based instruction in the areas of comprehension and vocabulary.
As a special education teacher, this training is a crucial opportunity for my teaching and development. I have already completed the Orton-Gillingham Comprehensive + training offered by IMSE for direct teaching in decoding and encoding components of reading and have utilized it the past two years to close foundational reading gaps.
The Morphonology training is the next course in the learning continuum to provide comprehension and vocabulary instruction to students to meet the other important components needed to be successful in reading. This training is geared towards 3-5th graders, whom I currently service.
My students have made significant gains in their decoding and encoding skills and instruction in morphology and comprehension is necessary to continue their growth and meet their IEP goals.
I am looking forward to this training to enhance my current teaching practices and to see growth in all of my students ability to understand words they are reading and begin to build comprehension skills needed to demonstrate reading success.
