This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our elementary school is a Title I school. The majority of our enrollment are inner-city students who deal with a lot of traumatic stress, face economic and social challenges. However, they remain resilient.
We are located in a low-income area.
All of our students receive free lunches and usually do not have the extra funds to buy additional supplies for school.
As an inner-city school, we find our funding is very limited, and therefore, it is difficult to purchase many items outside of the traditional school supply needs.
My Project
This project will keep our athletes hydrated during practice and at the games. Keeping our children properly hydrated will also allow our them to maintain focus, improve performance, and the water is good for their overall well-being.
We are also trying to change the habit of our children to drink more water and fewer sugary drinks.
We are teaching them that "Drinking Water is essential to a healthy lifestyle.” - Stephen Curry.
We will also be helping to reduce the huge plastic waste problem by using reusable water bottles. Traditionally the coaches have to go out and buy dozens of plastic water bottles for the students for each practice, and game. The empty bottles are then thrown away adding to the plastic landfill mess.
