Improving Students' Lives: One Classroom Supply at a Time
My students need all of these classroom supplies because they deserve to have a good and organized learning environment, more books to read, and materials that support their individual needs.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a wonderful First Grade Dual Language class with 22 fun, energized and eager to learn students. They are students from different backgrounds, that speak different languages such as Spanish, Chinese and Polish. It's the most diverse class I have ever taught! And because they are all from different backgrounds and speak different languages, they all have different needs.
Each student in my class deserves the best education and the best welcoming learning environment that feels like a second home!
They all come from different neighborhoods throughout the borough but most of them come from low income communities.
My Project
My students come into the classroom eager to learn something new everyday! These materials such as books in English and Spanish, ink, chart paper, markers, folders, index cards, dry-erased pocket charts, electric sharpener, pocket charts, pencils and other school supplies will help each student stay organized, read more books, and be more prepared for each lesson. Students will use the magnetic letters to practice their sight words, they will use the drawer organizer cart for math centers, and they will use the sign holders for mini charts that students can use as a guide when they work independently. Both of our Spanish and English libraries are running low on books and they love to read! They will benefit from new Spanish and English books. Also, they will benefit from the pencil sharpener because they will be able to sharpen their pencils nice and quick so they can have more time to complete their classwork. The printer ink will be use to print color handouts, visuals, and worksheets for the students. These school supplies such as the chart paper will also help me to create more anchor charts and provide more visuals around the classroom for my English Language Learners students.
All these classroom supplies will help to make each learning day easier and more engaging for my students!
These classroom supplies will improve my student's school lives because a lot of them come from low income communities and their families cannot afford to buy all the materials that were in the supply list at the beginning of the year. Therefore, we are already running low in school supplies and it's only November! We would be super grateful if you donate to our project!
