Improving Reading Skills With Technology

My students need Apple iPad's to utilize technology in improving their ability and skills in learning to read.

My Students

I currently teach 38 students in first and second grades in small groups and whole groups. The students spend most of their time in small group rotations in my classroom. Many of my students are below grade level in reading and I am seeking ways to improve their performance by motivating them to learn. The students love technology-related activities and I have seen their enthusiasm and progress increase when they have the opportunity to engage in activities that involve technology. I have purchased an Apple Ipad and numerous learning activity apps and used it to promote learning and engage the students with great success but the one Apple Ipad is simply not enough for all the students to remain engaged during the learning session.

My Project

I am requesting 4 Apple Ipads for my students to use in my reading class during small group rotations. I purchased one Ipad myself to help motivate my students and help them learn and they love it. i would like to engage more students and facilitate a higher rate of learning with additional Ipads. I hope to have these additional Ipads donated for my students to use to improve their phonics skills. Students will be using the Ipads daily to improve their comprehension skills as well. I hope to use the additional Ipads to increase motivation while improving their reading and phonics skills. Phonics instruction apps will help my students learn the relationship between letters and sounds which builds a strong foundation for reading.
