Improving Physical Education One Piece of Equipment at a Time

My Students

Our students are enthusiastic and creative individuals who love to participate in physical activity in many different forms throughout the year. Being a physical education teacher for an elementary school I see an average of 250 students twice a week for 45 minutes a day. At our elementary school we are constantly exposing students to many different activities from around the world to enhance their knowledge of movement and cultural differences. recently we have added sports such as cricket, touch rugby and a multicultural unit with games from around the world. We have students from all backgrounds but most of our students come from a lower-middle-income family.

My Project

As the ever-changing world of physical education continues to revolve around, we are constantly looking for new and inventive ways to get our students more engaged in their physical fitness. We are looking to incorporate self timing into the student curriculum in order for them to take ownership and be able to see improvements throughout the year. These timing devices are simple and allow for any age group to experience the benefits of data. The equipment organizers will allow us to keep the equipment safe in the limited space that we are provided to store equipment. By keeping the equipment safe we are able to make it last a lot longer and affect more students over the years.
