My students need to improve their science capital by reading about current scientific events in a child friendly format. WE need Science World.

My Students
My students live in the heart of a diverse neighborhood. They are young, energetic and lively and are an excellent group to introduce the amazing world of science.
My students need to develop their science capital.
One great way is to encourage them to read about current scientific events. They are currently becoming aware that science is everywhere around them and are beginning to explore the curious side of their scientific personalities in 6th and 7th grade.
They are eager to learn and I am determined that they should enjoy the beauty of science not only in their immediate neighborhood to throughout their state.
My Project
Science World will assist me to bring my students closer to delving into the world of science with real time experiences. It will provide and improve their knowledge to see and read that students their age around the country and the world are doing science and that science is not simply an abstract world of theories and concepts.
We need our students to see themselves as scientists.
Providing information in child friendly formats will not only encourage reading but will also stimulate conversations both with their peers and when they go home about topics of interest to them.
This is science. This is what we need to do. To spark their interest and engagement with real world experiences and ideas. Who knows what we can start?
