This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My English Language learners have shown so much growth in their language abilities. Everyday they come to my class ready and eager to learn new things. But this wasn't always the case, my students' confidence was low because they couldn't read the same books as their peers. Thats when I knew I needed to help my students become better readers.
The books that have made the greatest difference for my students are decodable books.
Decodable books target specific skills that students need to learn in order to advance and become fluent readers. Decodable books also make it easier for me, the teacher to understand what students have already mastered and what they need more practice in.
That is why I am asking for 4 more sets of Decodable readers. These books offer a variety of fun stories and skills for students to read on their own. I am also asking for two sets of decodable chapter books for my older students who are ready to move on to more challenging books.
With your help I know that my students will be able to excel in reading and soon become proficient English speakers.
