My students need an Amazon Kindle Fire tablet to help them with their research projects.
"Students in classrooms today are living in a time where technology is increasing at a rapid pace." (Sternberg, Kaplan and Borck, 2007) The transformation is digital technologies have force teachers to rethink what literacy means (Kress, 2003). I only have three working computers for 28 students.
My students are amazing people willing to work hard and determine to succeed.
They come from the proud Latino and African American families. Many of them don't have the financial resource to buy a computer so they are falling each day to a greater disadvantage in this technological world of today. A lot of my students are afraid of going to the library and use the computer lab because of gang violence in their neighborhood. So they are not able to finish their research projects on time. They need the opportunity to succeed and you can help with your donation.
I'm requesting a computer tablet so my twenty-eight students can use it to work on their research projects. By providing the students with ready access to the Internet, I plan to open my classroom after school. They can be safe from gang violence and be able to finish their research projects on time. I plan to encourage the students to work in groups and through the creation of unique pieces of writing, build their study skills that will help them accomplish their goals in elementary school and beyond. Computer technology is a positive supplement to bridge the gap between education and the technological world in which we live.
Schools that are lacking in technology are simply not preparing students for the world they are soon to enter.
My school is lacking of technology and I don't have the money to buy many computers for my students but you can help me with your donation of a computer tablet. They will improve their reading and writing while enjoying their learning. You can make a difference in their education. My students and I will be greatly grateful for your help.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
