This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I'm starting a new and challenging journey towards National Board Certification in English as a Second Language during my 16th year teaching in the Boston Public Schools. In my district, there are 30 high schools and only 8 other ESL teachers have successfully completed National Board Certification. I see this journey as a way to keep examining my practice and improving my instruction to support the growing and changing needs of my multi-lingual students.
I look forward to the challenge because every day I encourage and support my students to challenge themselves to improve their English; it's my time now!
National Board Certification assessment consists of 4 components that must be completed within 5 years. My goal is to tackle Component 1 first which is the rigorous three-hour standardized test.
