My Students

I work in a middle school that includes grades 5-8. Most of our classes have about 20 students, but we are growing. This year we welcomed 29 6th graders! I'm so excited to see the classes growing. I teach English Language Arts and History. I have 5 different classes every day plus I supervise a 7th and 8th-grade study hall. I have many reluctant readers and writers, as well as, several students who have reading levels well above grade level.

My Project

My goal is to add more books to my classroom library that will challenge my 5-8 grade students. I teach in a small rural school that struggles to bring in new and challenging books for our students. I'd love to be able to bring some new books to my classroom library that my students will enjoy and hopefully encourage each other to read.

I'm working to increase the number of books that my students read outside of the classroom.

I hope that these books will interest and enlighten the students that read them, and in return, they will start reading more books independently.
