Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach two classes of 10th Grade Reading/Writing Workshop Class in a small public high school in a high-need community.
The majority of my students have learning disabilities, so I want to engage them more in reading, and help them improve their literacy. We do not, however, have enough funds to purchase books that are in the interest level of my students.
I will need some books and audio books to add to our classroom library, so my students will be more engaged in reading and continue to develop habits of good readers. In addition, developing good reading habits will help them prepare for college.
You will make it possible for students who have learning disabilities to become more engaged in reading and continue developing habits of good readers. In addition, you will be an instrument to help students develop good reading habits which will help prepare them for college.
