My students need some interesting books that they can read. I have noticed that series tend to really get my students into books and to keep reading at home.
My 5th grade class has 31 students who come from a variety of unique backgrounds. Our school boundaries include a more affluent area, as well as a less affluent area. At our school, we have nick named them the have and have nots. While some students in my classroom have books to read at home, some do not. For some of my students, school is the only place they can get a good book to read and improve their literacy skills.
My Project
Many of the students in my classroom do not like to read simply because they cannot find a good book or series to read. With this project, I am hoping to encourage my students to read more by having more interesting books available to them in my classroom.
Being at a school with students who come from less affluent homes, means that some of my students do not have books to read at home.
By having a greater selection in my classroom, my students can improve their literacy skills by being able to take a good book home to read.
