Improving Learning Outcomes With Organizational Strategies

My Students

Our school is a Title I school in the heart of our neighborhood. My students are a diverse group of individuals, each with unique gifts and talents. The common thread running between most of them is financial hardship. Our classroom is a community built on the foundations of trust, respect, integrity, and order. My students will have the opportunity to explore, to research, to indulge their innate curiosity, and to fail. All told we are a group of 28 people, myself included, working daily to be better.

Order is one of our foundations, and order is so important in maintaining a positive learning environment.

Students who learn to embrace systems that help them organize will have a major advantage not just throughout their academic careers, but throughout their lives.

My Project

Students' desks are hungry. They eat work and destroy notebooks. Too much time is wasted on redoing lost or damaged assignments. These storage containers will fit inside the desks and will keep student work and notebooks safe from the jaws of the hungry desk.

Additionally, these storage containers make collaborative work much easier as students can simply grab their container and move to a new desk without the usual hassle of moving an entire desk, or running back to the desk several times to grab forgotten materials.

All in all, these containers will improve learning outcomes, save time, and help teach my students strategies that will help keep them organized for life. Order reigns!
