This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning, we greet each other with a huge smile on our face because we know that our day is going to be great. Throughout the day, I try my best to create and provide a warm and supportive learning environment so my first grade students can grow academically, socially and psychologically.

As September nears, I am overwhelmed with excitement as I wonder about the students I will meet in September.

Every year, my students have taught me and challenged me to be more open-minded, and less judgmental. My first grade students are power generators and happy campers. Yes, many live in the low income area, government subsidized housings or shelters in the Bronx. However, their self-motivation to learn and succeed, exceeds those in the affluent areas. Our school is a Title One school located in the Bronx. We strive to meet every students at his or her level and support him or her to achieve his or her best potential. We as a school community try to work collaboratively with parents and with each other to better our education system.

My Project

The technological tools will expose my students to different tools such as wireless keyboard, wireless presenter/pointer; and will prepare them to be more technologically intelligent. My students will learn to interact more efficiently with a class computer, iPad, and Interactive board using the tools provided through the site. The technological tools will also allow the teacher to better instruct the students. For example, with the presenter control, the teacher will not be rooted by the computer during teaching, and yet would be allow to circulate and support the students better. Other tools as markers, magnetic letters and reading passages will support students to practice and solidify their learning, independently, in a partnership or in a group. First grade students also use pencils and having a heavy duty pencil sharpener will allow me to sharpen and have the pencils ready for students to use so they don't have to waste time sharpening pencils during instruction.

The donations will bring a few important and positive changes to my classroom.

The tech tools will allow me to teach more efficiently while circulating and supporting students to offer more individualized support, rather than glued to/by the main computer. Additionally, the students will learn to use and be more competent with those tech tools to be more well rounded learners. Other donations such as markers and pencil sharpeners are essential part of first grade teaching/learning.
