My students are from a rural community in the hills of West Virginia. They are extremely smart and energetic. My students are teenagers, ages eleven to fourteen, in grades 6th to 8th. Many of my students live with grandparents due to the opioid epidemic that is present in my state. Some have experienced loss of a single parent or loss of both. Unfortunately some witnessed the epidemic first hand, which makes our school the heart of the community. I believe these young children need to be given the best. That is what I am trying to give them.
I would love to give those students who are extremely fidgety the option of a standing desk with fidget bar. The goal is to purchase eight desks starting with the purchase of just two. In time, stools can be purchased, also giving students the option of sitting when tired.
I am hoping these desk can help add toward student engagement, reducing there distributive energy.
A body in motion is always in motion. That is why this project is so important. Students need the movement to keep their blood flowing and their mind healthy. The standing desk with fidget bar will allow students to release energy in a positive way.
