This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Hello! I teach 9th-grade science in Bay Minette, AL which is a small, rural town where everyone is like family. The high school has roughly 1100 students. The scholars that I encounter are always eager to learn.

I pride myself on producing students that are well-rounded individuals by focusing on fostering relationships and creating a safe, inclusive environment for all.

My goal is to provide my students with what they need to be successful academically as well as personally.

My Project

Classroom community is crucial to the learning process. Providing students with flexible seating options allows them the chance to feel comfortable and truly take control of their learning. Right now, my students sit in pairs or pods at a table with chairs. This will give my students a chance to complete their independent work in an area that better fits their learning style.

When my students are comfortable, they become more engaged and focused on their assignments.

The items that I have chosen will add to my collection as I continue to transition to flexible seating. The alternative seating which includes stools, balance balls, and wobble cushions will be very beneficial for students that may need to take a break from traditional seating.

Flexible seating options as a choice will give my students the chance to take charge of their learning process. Your donations will assist me in being able to give my students a more enhanced educational experience.
