Improved Use of Media and Time In the Classroom!

My students need a new Apple TV so that I can make better use of media in my classroom to increase engagement while also saving time by using features like Airplay and other useful programs.

My Students

WJMSl is located near Salt Lake City, UT. We are one of the only Tile I schools in our district and serve an uncommonly (for Utah) diverse and challenging group of students.

My students come from all walks of life -- refugees, immigrants, learning disabled, homeless, etc -- and it is a daily struggle to get them engaged in the classroom in meaningful ways.

I especially struggle with students who have inadequate supports and examples at home. Using media in effective ways allows me to help keep students engaged while also giving me flexibility to reach students with varying needs.

My Project

Our school building is extremely old and not wired and effective for 21st century learning. The mess of cables and adapters that I have to use to run media in my classroom is both confusing and terrifying! The hassle of juggling this mess takes up valuable class time and impedes me as a teacher from being as effective as possible.

Having a functional and new Apple TV would allow me to better utilize effective media by connecting my projector wirelessly to my school MacBook and iPad via Airplay, eliminating the need for cords and adapters and providing me with greater flexibility.

I'd also be able to use iTunes and other Apps to store my media and open up other avenues for engaging my students in learning important topics.
