Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My school offers our students genuine writing through pen pal exchange, petitions, diverse forms of diaries, and student newsletters. However, I would like our children to reach higher level of sophistication, I would love to see them express themselves with elegance and professionalism. One of the steps is improving their spelling. Recent research shows that copying words forever is often a waste of time; students need to learn spelling structures with new engaging activities. Unfortunately, my school operates with minimum funding and most of our parents can't afford donations. African American students usually make up 70% of my class; the rest includes a rich diversity of cultures such as Latino and Asian. Since we are a Social Justice Magnet School, our students are aware of the issues awaiting them and they work hard to become agents of change! We just need help to improve their education. Your generous donation will bring four essential spelling activities that will motivate the class and make a significant change in our students' learning. Each of them focuses on a different aspect of spelling: sight words, patterns, memorization, and word families. These supplies will also engage all kinds of students as they address different ways of learning. The sight words on textured cards will help children who learn best through movement, the games will address kids who learn best through social interaction, the spinning wheels and stamps help the individual student. These children will discover they love working on their writing thank to you!
